MOSCOW, Dec 9 (PRIME) -- Russian grain harvest will exceed 131 million tonnes in net weight in 2020, Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
"We can say today that the autumn field works are over. The grain crops have been fully threshed. The amount in so-called net weight will exceed 131 million tonnes. We can say in this respect that our farmers have ensured one of the biggest harvests in the contemporary history," Patrushev said.
The minister separately said that the situation on the food market is stable and there is no deficit. In particular, sugar production covers the domestic demand.
Russian agricultural product exports can exceed U.S. $28 billion in 2020, Patrushev said. "We have managed to keep a high rate of foreign trade in 2020. The plan is $25 billion, it has been already exceeded with exports reaching $26.5 billion. We expect to exceed the level of $28 billion in the year," Patrushev said.
